what happens to waste?

Combustible waste is utilised as energy at the waste to energy plant in the production of power and heat.

Biowaste is utilised at the biogas plant of Lakeuden Etappi. Biowaste and municipal sludge are produced into biogas and recycled fertilizer.

Glass is crushed as used in land construction.

Metal is returned to the industry as raw material and to reproduction. By utilising recycled raw materials, the industry is able to reduce the excavation and preparation of ore.

Paperboard is reused in the production of cores for kitchen towels and toilet tissues.

Waste paper is reused in the manufacture of new paper. It serves to produce material for newspapers.
