Waste stations for recyclable sorted waste

Households and companies can take their sorted, recyclable waste to Etappi’s waste stations and the RE-point in Seinäjoki. Households go free of charge, whereas companies are charged according to the current price list.

Households are charged at the waste stations and RE-point only for:

combustible waste
waste that must be sorted
waste that must be sent to landfill
paper waste that requires confidential waste disposal

Waste stations and the RE-point accept waste in batches of no more than two cubic metres (a passenger car’s trailer load). Batches larger than this can be taken to Etappi’s Waste Management Centre in Ilmajoki.

RE-point

RE-point is a facility where residents and companies can bring their waste for sorting and recycling. It is located in Seinäjoki at Laulateentie 111. Households can take their waste to the self-service RE-point around the clock using the RE-appi mobile app, which is only available in Finnish.

The way it works is that you sort the waste beforehand and unload it at the RE-point either in the outdoor reception area known as Tarha or the covered sorting shed known as Tuubi, depending on what sort of waste it is.

Prices for waste that is subject to a charge:

less than 0.5 cubic metres €8
5–2 cubic metres €20

Regional collection points for holiday homes’ combustible waste

Holiday home residents can take their combustible waste to regional collection points during the holiday season from the 1st of May to the 30th of September. The use of regional collection points is subject to a season fee.

Waste Management Centre accepts large batches of waste

The Waste Management Centre accepts and processes large batches of waste. It is the head office of Lakeuden Etappi and includes the company’s offices, a biogas plant, modern waste treatment facilities and the Ilmajoki waste station.

Waste to energy plant turns combustible waste into heat and electricity

Households’ combustible waste is treated at the Westenergy waste to energy plant. This is where non-recyclable, sorted waste that is suitable for incineration and collected from 60 municipalities’ households is turned into energy. By burning waste, we produce district heating for 20,000 households and electricity for 5,000 households every year. The waste to energy plant is owned by six Ostrobothnian waste companies, the largest owner being Lakeuden Etappi.
